Wallpapers for iPhone and iPod touch are all over the internet. Some look great, and you’d wish they were available for Android resolutions. When set as a wallpaper for Android they suddenly appear different then you hoped. This is because the Android launcher, the Android system application that manages your home screen, has a feature called wallpaper scrolling. 

In short:

1. Modify the portrait iPod/iPhone wallpaper to a landscape wallpaper by doubling the width.

2. Set ADW/Launcher/other after-market launcher to not scroll the background.

3. Set the modified wallpaper the way you’re used to.

First of, this is the example wallpaper I’ll use in this how-to:

 

When you try to set this image in Android you’ll see this:

Android wants you to use a landscape wallpaper, or else it’ll cut off half of the image.

The solution is simple, just double the width of the original iPhone wallpaper and then set it:

This way, the original image isn’t cropped.

Of course you don’t want to see the added -in this case blue- pixels, so you’ll have to use an alternative launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro, to turn off wallpaper scrolling. 

End result: the same part of the modified wallpaper is shown on every homescreen, just like on the iPhone.
